Lester Finch Trophy - 25/4/10

BARKING & DAGENHAM PRIMARY schools' side continued their good form with another victory in the Lester Finch Trophy. A Nathan Casey double and MJ Folkes' 11th of the season was enough to see off a spirited Tower Hamlets side.

Buoyed by their exploits in Jersey, the District team started brightly and quickly had Tower Hamlets on the back foot. So it was no surprise when they took the lead through Folkes. Amoh and Turner combined to release the St. Margarets hitman and although his effort struck the upright, he composed himself to slot the rebound home.

Almost immediately the lead was doubled, as Casey grabbed his fourth of the season. A flowing move involving Daniel John, Morris, Turner and Amoh found Casey in space and his first time effort gave the Tower Hamlets keeper no chance.

Barking & Dagenham continued to dominate proceedings but were unable to add to their tally.

Tower Hamlets started the second period brightly but with Jack Richardson and Daniel Parish on the top of their game, they were unable to create any clear cut chances.

Barking & Dagenham still looked dangerous and they should have put the game to bed but Aaron Molloy was superbly denied by the visitors keeper.

Despite their superiority, Barking & Dagenham failed to kill off the game and nerves started to fray when Tower Hamlets reduced the deficit with a well worked goal. Some neat passing was finished off smartly by the hardworking Rio Allen.

Tower Hamlets were nearly level moments later but Alfie Reynolds was equal to Josh Johnson's snap shot.

The visitors sensed they could get something from the game and began to push bodies forward but Barking & Dagenham were equal to everything they had and settled the game with Casey's second of the game. Scott Mitchell threaded the ball through the Tower Hamlets back four and Casey ran onto the ball before smashing the ball into the net.

The goal put a fairer reflection on the game and saw the District side make it two wins from two in their group.
