Jersey Trip Information - 28/2/09
COPIED BELOW IS a version of the letter that will be given to District parents at the next match.
"Dear Parents,
The money for the hotel and flights has now been paid to Jersey. This amounted to over £7000! Please make sure you support all fund raising efforts and get any funds raised to me as soon as possible, so that the boys really can have a good time in Jersey and so that I don’t have to ask for any more money!
Fund Raising
As you know, we are trying to keep the cost of the trip at £280.
Thanks to those of you who have put in a big effort to raise money for the benefit of all. The trip will cost in excess of £400 each so we all need to play our part. Our fund raising target is £2400.
Sponsored Penalties
There are some excellent efforts to get sponsors for the penalties. Are you collecting Sponsored Penalty Money as fast as possible? N.B. any remaining boys to take their penalties a.s.a.p.
The Disco raised over £400. This was a great effort and thanks to all those who supported the event. A huge thank you to the parents who organized the enjoyable evening. It’s not easy running such an event so it is much appreciated.
Pocket money
Please note - pocket money has not been included in any payments. We ask that this is handed to us for safe keeping and then we give it out on a daily basis.
We have found that a suitable amount is £30. We would like all the boys to have the same and it is important that your child is NOT given more than this. Thank you. Please let us have your child’s pocket money at any of the matches in March. (Please try not to leave it until departure day. Thanks.)
Whether it’s Sponsor penalty money, pocket money, or any other money, please put it in a named sealed envelope, also noting what the money is for. We have lots of different cheques/cash coming in – sponsored penalties, late Jersey payments, bus stop monies, pocket money, etc. so please help us by clearly labeling envelopes.
PASSPORT reminder (or CITIZENCARD)
Every child will need a passport (or citizen card) which has the child’s photo on it. Please check that your child’s passport is not out of date and if you have not yet got a passport it is now a matter of urgency and concern.
Passports (or Citizen Cards) to be handed to me for looking after on 21st or 28th March.
It is imperative that I receive the 3 forms (Appendix IV, Appendix V, and B.D.S.F.A. Parental Consent Form) by Saturday 21st March at the very, very latest. In fact, 7th March would be sensible and very helpful.
Travel to and from Gatwick
A coach has been booked for the boys to go to and from Gatwick Airport. We shall be sharing transport with Thurrock District. Please note the departure and meeting place will be Dagenham swim pool and parents are asked not to travel to Gatwick. Please note the meeting and departure time on morning of the 4th April. You already have the Information Sheet - the time is 4.30 a.m. meet. EARLY EH?
Terms and Conditions of Booking
All parents have received these.
Insurance
You will receive (possibly with this letter) a summary of the Borough Insurance taken out for this trip. Please feel free to take out additional insurance of your own if you wish to do so.
Telephone Pyramid
We shall have a system for ease of communication should the need arise (e.g. delayed flight etc.) during the Jersey trip. This will involve several groups of parents whereby one parent would phone another etc. Please let me know if you do not wish your telephone (either home or mobile) number to be used in this way ie on a sheet which will show all the parents’ telephone numbers. Unless you tell me otherwise I will assume you are happy for your telephone number to be used in this way. Please write down the numbers you would like to be used for the telephone pyramid. A small slip is below for you to return to me a.s.a.p. Thank you.
Arrangements for travel, accommodation, trips etc. are now taking place and you will be kept informed of any necessary information – luggage list, telephone pyramid etc.
Kind Regards
D.Moore G.Farquhar"
