Woking Girls 1

BARKING & DAGENHAM GIRLS' District side wrapped up their second victory in the space of a month over Woking, with a one-sided demolition of their opponents at May & Baker's. Goals from Elicia Wells, Aniesha Davis, Ellie Webster and Kleesha Darroux maintained the team's one hundred per cent record and highlighted the depth of attacking options in the squad.

The home side were ahead as early as the second minute, when goalkeeper Emma Lancaster's long punt up-field was put out of play by the opposition defence. This played straight into Barking & Dagenham's hands as throw-in expert Libby Patten launched the ball into the Woking penalty area where skipper Elicia Wells finished comfortably to stun the visitors with her third of the season.

A scrappy half ensued with Barking & Dagenham's passing game thwarted by the dogged resilience of their opponents. Darroux, Webster and Davis all went close before the lead was doubled in the eighteenth minute.

Again, Patten's long throw-in - this time from the right flank - arrowed straight between the posts, where Davis turned her marker and volleyed towards the target. The first shot thudded into the keeper's chest from close-quarters but Davis reacted the quickest to the loose ball to grab her second goal in as many games.

Six minutes later, it was 3-0. Chloe Webster began the move, winning possession just inside her opponents half and feeding Davis's feet. The Manor striker held up play and, with a turn and glance, picked out the other Webster twin, Ellie, marauding into the penalty area from the right wing. A well-placed shot extended the home side's lead as confidence spread throughout the team.

On the half-hour mark, came the goal of the day. Elicia Wells bombed forward from midfield, picking out Darroux five yards out from the penalty area. Using her strength, she expertly span away from the defender before unleashing a howitzer into the top corner from distance to make it 4-0.

Barking & Dagenham then began to assert their dominance, with their best football off the day, passing and moving with ease, creating chance after chance with crisp, incisive inter-play.

Chloe Webster, Ellie Webster, Darroux and Davis all had chances to extend the lead further but it was Woking who managed the only other goal of the game with an exquiste counter attack, finshed off by Rachel Woods, breaking from their own half to show they were not giving up without a fight.

However, the resilient Godwin back three of Sarah-Louise Sach, Amber Wallace and Chanel Sinclair kept any further attacks at bay as Barking & Dagenham saw out the remaining minutes in a solid all-round team performance.

Barking & Dagenham: Lancaster, Sach, Sinclair, Wallace, Wells, E Webster, C Webster, Patten, Davis, Darroux.
