BDSFA At The Youth Games
FOR THE SECOND successive year, BDSFA provided the borough's football representatives at the London Youth Games.
The squad faced a tough draw in the opening group, being held to 0-0 against Hounslow before falling to a 1-0 defeat to Waltham Forest. Wandsworth then achieved a resounding 3-1 victory although Luke Gelston salvaged some pride with a late goal.
That inspired a Barking & Dagenham revival in the latter stages of the competition. Chloe Webster, Alec Monk and Gelston all found the net in a 3-1 victory over Bromley.
Brent then beat Barking & Dagenham by the same scoreline, Gelston scoring for the third time.
In the final match, Monk gave Barking & Dagenham an early lead against Islington before three quick strikes for the opposition swung the tie in their favour. Daniel Boyce responded with two goals inside a minute to level the tie and complete a memorable day in the sunshine at Crystal Palace.
