BDSFA Girls' League - 2/4/09

DYNAMIC DOROTHY BARLEY moved up into second place in the girl’s league with a draw and a win, maintaining their unbeaten record.

Dorothy Barley’s first match was against St. Josephs. Having lost 3-1 to St Josephs in the semi-finals of the Monteagle Shield, Dorothy Barley were looking to settle the score.

However, St Josephs got off to a blistering start and found themselves up 1-0 at the end of the first half.

But Dorothy Barley, who are becoming comeback specialists, dug deep and through some fancy passing by the Webster twins created the equaliser.

The game battled fiercely back and forth with Barley producing some brilliant defending through Sharmin, Katie and Geri and debut defender Nancy.

The Websters, with the help of Emma up front, put Dorothy Barley ahead with minutes to go. It was now St Josephs turn to come back and a last minute equaliser saw the match finish at 2-2.

Dorothy Barley then squared off against a tough Hunter`s Hall team.

Both the Webster girls produced a hat trick while Emma continued her fine form in front of goal. The game was rounded off by debut goals for ``Charmin’ " Sharmin and Katie.

The game saw some tough play by Tanya and Leah in defence as Hunters Hall never gave up.  The score could have easily been more if it wasn`t for some brilliant goalkeeping by the Hunters Hall keeper. The match ended 8-0.
