WITH CHILDREN ALREADY able to access similar events in Havering and Newham, it was the turn of Barking & Dagenham to kick-off a brand new Girls Central Venue League at Goresbrook Leisure Centre on Friday 5th March as young females from School Years Three and Four received their first ever taste of the game.
Six schools attended the first of three regular league meetings as part of a competition which has been set-up by Essex FA to provide girls with the opportunity to play competitive football in a localised venue.
The teams played each other in a series of ‘round-robin’ games with the top two competing in a mini-final. Godwin Primary beat Richard Albion 3-1 whilst there was also the chance to pick-up Fair Play Points for any excellent conduct and behaviour, awarded by the event’s referees. Hunters Hall collected this trophy.
